Supply Hoarding

Before starting projects, I like to hoard the supplies as I think we might need.  When we did our kitchen, it meant we had a pile of bamboo flooring boxes and Ikea cabinet boxes all set up in the living room, and we hadn’t totally completed the demo part of the project yet.  Same thing for the basement bathroom, but the vanity and toilet were living in Erika’s room for a couple of weeks, and everything else was cluttering up the laundry room.

Now that we’re looking to start the master bathroom in the next week or so, we’ve started collecting our supplies for that project.  Our study is kind of like our huge upstairs closet – we keep all sorts of odds and ends there, so it makes sense that we’d start putting our bathroom stuff in there too.  It also saves us from going up and down the stairs in the middle of the project.  On the House Tour page, you can catch a glimpse of the room, but it’s pretty much a disaster area.  We’ll have to do some organizing soon though – we’re picking up the tub and toilet this weekend at Home Depot.

I guess that means I have a project for tonight and tomorrow.  Once the big pieces are in, and we eventually get to order the vanity (it’s been out of stock every time I’ve tried to order it so far), the study will pretty much be unusable until after the bathroom is done.  I’m hoping that I have enough foresight to organize it in a way that what we need first will be in the front of the room.  At least what’s coming out of the bathroom will be taken to the Habitat ReStore or the dump as soon as possible – I don’t think I could live with two bathrooms’ worth of stuff in my study!
