And so it begins…

I can say that I wish I had started this blog much sooner – as soon as I moved in with Brandon back in 2010, in fact.  I guess I was so excited to start making our house into a home, that it just didn’t occur to me.

I’ve been reading a lot of home improvement blogs, and finally got to the point of starting one myself.  That, and my PowerPoint presentations of my house updates got too big to send as email attachments.  That’s definitely a sign.

When Brandon bought his house in 2008, he really liked some qualities – the size and the fenced yard for Bauer, to start with.  Fast-forward a couple of years to when Midge and I moved in.  I really liked the potential to turn his and Bauer’s bachelor pad into a home for all four of us.

Our townhouse was built in the late 1980′s, so we had a lot of shiny brass and golden oak to work with.  There were a few owners before Brandon, and some of them hadn’t kept up with the house the way they should have.  We also had some renegade DIY-ers on our hands in the mix of previous owners.

In the last two years, we’ve made a lot of updates, and painted a lot of walls.  But it’s starting to come together…
